I had to go to Doylestown today for work. It's a 2 hour drive, which is no big deal for me these days. All I had to do was swap out a dvd drive on 2 machines. Should take an hour, but nooooo. I had to park like 4 blocks away in a 2 hour parking zone. I walked to the entrance to find out I needed to use the "vendor entrance" since I had tools (please keep in mind these places have xray machines and metal detectors, security is a necessity in public safety). Once I found the unmarked vendor entrance on the loading dock I couldn't get an access badge without giving them a photo ID. I don't usually bring my purse on-site so it was back to my truck in the rain for my license.
Each machine was a pain in the ass. I didn't get done the first one until 1:30 at which time I had to run out and move my car 20 feet. I'm glad I did because there was a meter maid chalk mark behind my tire (where do they find waterproof chalk?). I thought the second drive replacement would go easier since I figured out the problem with the first... but again, noooo. Finally at around 4 I'm done, say goodbye to the superivsor (because my contact person didn't show up), and head on my merry way. Just as I'm hitting the turnpike I see a sign "76 Westbound closed. Exit at Doylestown". WHAT THE HELL??
I turn on KYW (which I miss living up here) and sure enough it's closed. 10 mile back up. I pulled off at the first service plaza I saw and filled the tank. "35 miles to empty" was not going to cut it if I landed in stopped traffic. Long story short (too late) it took me 3 1/2 hours to get home. I pulled into my driveway at 7:30. By 7:45 I was sitting in my big comfy desk chair grumbling about traffic and long car rides. I opened up my email. Only one email that wasn't junk, from Jen C. It stated simply:
I totally cracked up. It was the perfect PERFECT stress reliever to my day. I love you Jen, like the fat kid loves cake.
Chop on.

A good friend indeed. My friend (also named Jen C.!) has the ringtone version of that email.
I can TOTALLY understand your pain. LOL I get stuck in traffic on the turnpike...you get stuck in traffic on the turnpike. Glad I could provide some comic relief for ya. Thanks again for a fun weekend :)
I knew Jen C. was my hero from the moment I met her!
