The cleaning frenzy has begun. Wednesday is Kaeleigh's 8th grade graduation and my Mom, Dad and Louise are coming up for it. There's no way I could possibly get the basement presentable by then, but the upstairs needs to look good. All the shiny surfaces in the house are covered with a dull film from the oil heat, the rest of the surfaces are covered with dust. I can dust today and tomorrow they will be dusty again. Drew and I will vacuum, dust, clean scour and scrub tonight and tomorrow the house will again be dusty.
The thing about this is, I know my parents don't care about the house. They aren't coming up with white gloves ready to run their finger along the baseboard (which I've already dusted), they are coming up to see their grandchild on "Recognition night". However, that's not how I was brought up. A flurry of cleaning must occur before any organized event, that's just how it is. I must go, the swiffer is calling me.
*Blog title from Crazy, recorded by Patsy Cline in 1961. Little bit-o-trivia for you, the song was written by Willie Nelson.
