Attack Of The Hershey Bears

Well... it was quite a weekend. My Dad and Louise came up from NJ and we went scouting out possible reception sites. Here's where we went and what we thought:

  • Felicita Spa and Resort - The room was great, a nice size even if it was a bit too yellow. It looked out onto rolling hills and the 15th hole of their golf course. Unfortunately the rooms are lodge style and far away from the reception area. Ideally people staying at the hotel will be able to go right to the reception without the need to drive anywhere.
  • Crown Plaza - Nice staircase and decent room but the indoor pool is right outside of the room. I don't want screaming kids or that ugly frenchman who thinks his Speedo looks great marring any part of the party.
  • Sheraton Harrisburg/Hershey - Not bad, but nothing that we oohed and aahed about. We were really early for our appointment so people were still using the room when we got there. It seems most hotels have indoor pools these days, this one had one of those connections to the outside pool that you could swim through. Kae loved that idea. Of course swimming outside in November isn't the norm... but neither is she ;-)
  • Raddison Camp Hil - We just stopped in to this place since the waitress from lunch recommended it and we were glad we did. Grand ballrooms right outside the hotel (covered walkway from hotel, bonus!) with a seperate place for us to hold the ceremony. Plenty of guest rooms, nice staircase etc. for pictures and the wedding coordinator was very nice and confident. You could tell this chick knew her shit. This place is also about a half mile away from our house. Totally convenient. Prize find for day 1.
  • Visaggio's - Only 8 guest rooms, but we've found the place to go for a nice dinner out! Excellent food and service.
Day 2

  • Hilton Harrisburg - My parents stayed at the Hilton for the weekend so I know the rooms are great. They had a beautiful room for the ceremony, and a beautiful room for the reception as well. This was our day 2 winner.
  • Hershey Hotel - The Hershey Hotel had this amazing center court kind of thing that could have been beautiful for the ceremony, plus a nice ballroom, but the prices... OUCH!
  • Hersehy Lodge - Again a beautiful place, but being one of the Hershey properties it was just as prices as it's sister the hotel. We had a great lunch at a Hershey Bears style grill. (see picture above).
The search continues....
