Mud Sales
Mud Sale is the Lancaster County term for an annual auction/sale at one of a number of local fire companies. The sales, appropriately named for the condition of the thawing ground, attract thousands of people looking for bargains on anything from Amish quilts and antiques to lumber, buggies and lawn equipment.
Amishstock
Amishstock is the Lancaster County term given to the mud sale at the annual drink/food festival held at my friends (thanks to Jen) AnnaMarie and Bob's house. This is my second year to score an invite to the event, and I can't freaking wait! Their house is right on the edge of the Gordonville Fire Company's Spring Mud Sale and Auction so the seats are prime! It's a sea of Amish no matter where you look. We stand out on the balcony, talking and driking, head down to the sales (go-cup in hand) and look at the quilts, antiques and other farm fare. There are also some pretty pimped out buggies the Amish are selling.
I tried to blog it all last year but I was pretty new at this whole thing and had some technical problems. This year should be much better. I blog it as I go, much fun!
