Beggars at the Feast

Random thoughts as I answer the door for the trick or treaters (they do it weird up here):

1. Odie is by far the cutest costume, a big plush head on a 5 year old girl. ADORABLE
2. My daughter is way too old to be there an I should be ashamed that I let her go trick or treating. However, a free twix or two is enough to cancel out that small amount of shame.
3. I love Washington apple martinis. They ease the pain in my knees from having to get off the couch every 5 seconds to answer the door.
4. The talking skull Maria gave me for my shower is awesome. I hung it from a string attached to the front door light. It scared me at least 5 times so far because I keep forgetting it's there. I love it!
5. Oh crap I forgot I lit the gril about 20 minutes ago, time to put the salmon on.
6. OMG Halloween is on!!!
7. It's very cool, fire trucks are driving slowly around the neighborhood lighting up the street for the trick or treaters.
8. Always give out Halloween candy in this order: $3.99/20 lbs candy first, then the twizzler/chewy fruity candy stuff, then the chocolate. Pray for just enough trick or treates to get through the cheap candy.
9. Turn your lights off and lock your door if you get past the twizzler/chewy fruity candy.
10. If you've never had a Hershey's Take 5 bar you really should. It's chocolate and soft caramel and peanut butter and pretzel. None of my trick or treaters will be getting these.
