Whew! We made it. We decided to leave NJ early today instead of staying until tomorrow morning. We got everything we needed to do done. We saw Sheryl Crow (thank you to the stranger that gave us her seats. She got comps that were better than her seats in row H so she went all the way back to row X, and just randomly asked Drew and I if we would like the seats in row H, random acts of kindness make life so much sweeter). We had lunch with Jen C. then stopped in to see my grandmother at the hospital. Nan was asleep when we got there, I didn't know what to do so I let her sleep. We waited in the room for a few minutes then I told her I loved her, kissed her head and we left. Karen, Frank and Nico came over to my Mom's and we hung out with them for a while then around 5 we hit the road back to Pennsylvania.
Around 30 minutes into our 2 hour drive home Drew noticed my battery light had come on. At almost the exact same time he noticed it our car began making a horrible sound like something was stuck underneath it. We pulled over and checked but could find nothing wrong. We decided to try and see how far we could get before the battery gave up, providing that the sound did not come back. However, with the battery light on we kept the radio off, and the lights off as long as we possibly could. Once I couldn't see the dash anymore it was time to turn them on, I held my breath and turned on the lights. Dim, but do-able. With each milestone we passed I relaxed a little more; last rest stop before our exit, only one more highway to go, our exit into the city, all of these loosened the muscles that had bunched up in the back of my neck when everything started. We pulled onto our street and I breathed a big sigh of relief. Monday we'll take it down the street to the mechanic and get the problem resolved. For now I'm home, comfy pants, my computer and a diet Code Red. Life is good.
Life would be even sweeter though if my subject line applied to both my car and my grandmother. Hang in there Nan :)
