So... for those of you who have never been to my house... my office looked like this pretty much every day for the past year (minus the cabinet on it's side on the rug):
It served it's purpose but it wasn't the most comfortable place to be for 8 hours every day. When I say "I work from home" please believe that I'm not making up the "work" part. Some people don't get that when you say work from home, but it's true.
This week I was in Staples continuing the quest I have to find the perfect desk chair when I saw a bookcase that I fell in love with instantly. Dark wood, silver accents, modern and with a lot of storage. I bought the bookcase and a matching computer stand. I don't need it for my computer, but it's got a filing drawer, plenty of shelves, and will hold my TV quite nicely.
On Friday the boxes arrived and I began to assemble the pieces. This wasn't "some" assembly required, it was complete assembly required. Every little peg had to be put in. This was one of the parts packs from the bookcase:
I worked on it Friday night... some Saturday... Saturday night... and Sunday morning/afternoon. Not constantly, lots of other things to do along the way, but there were quite a few hours put in on my new furniture. So, by 7 o'clock tonight my office looked like this:
I am sooo happy with the way it looks. The furniture is well made and sturdy, stuff I'll have for years to come.

Is that a Darth Vader helmet on the bookcase? Congrats on your cool, new office!
There is no helmet on top of the bookcase. (said in the Obi Wan "these are not the droids you're looking for tone of voice).
LOVE IT!!! Looks awesome. I really like that cube shelf piece. And I am so jealous...imagine all those parts you show..IN ONE BAG!! That's what I had to deal with. My desk is all built now, thanks to A. helping with the hutch. How were your directions? Mine sucked. Better than IKEA, but not by much. Yay US!! Both have new furniture!!! Love ya!
