Crash - Friday night I finished my work and went downstairs to game just a little before my haircut. I logged on to the game and my entire computer locked up. I tried powering off and then on again. I tried all my usual tricks and got nothing. I went out for my haircut and came back hoping that by some mysterious fortune my drive had fixed itself, and no luck. I spent most of Friday night and most of the day Saturday trying to fix it. Again, no luck. Thankfully I've got a spare laptop to use for internet access and such, but it's not for gaming, and it's not my baby! Oh, to add an additional kick in the ass my Dell warranty expired on July 19th, less than a week ago. However there has been no freaking out over this, everything I've tried has been done in a calm manner.
Bang - Saturday evening we left to go to a surprise party for Drew's friend Jess. It was 6pm when we left. We got in my car so Jess would not recognize Drew's car when when she got there. I drove to the stop sign and something happened. I drive to that stop sign every day, I've stopped there a thousand times without incident. This time however, I'm not really sure what I did. I was talking to Drew I think, and had my head turned a little... or I was looking down at the GPS he was programming... but I didn't see the SUV to my right that had already stopped and was now going, and rammed right into the rear drivers side tire. I was not going fast, maybe 20-25. He was not going fast either. We got out of our cars, I apologized once Drew clued me in that I didn't stop completely, exchanged information and went on our way. In Pennsylvania you don't need a police report for an accident, and as long as you can move the cars you just handle it on your own. His car will need some work as I'm sure things are bent in and his frame was now very close to the tire. My front bumper is trashed, hanging off, license plate mangled. Thankfully my Saturn took the brunt of the hit (and... unfotunatly my Saturn took the brunt of the hit). However, just like with the PC I remained unnaturally calm. We drove back home, got Drew's car, and went to the party. Sure I had him make my drinks "doubles", but we still had a nice time.
Boom - This is what I'm afraid of. Bad luck comes in 3's and I've already taken 2 considerably big hits this week. Two things that I use and rely on daily are currently out of commission and I handled them with stride. Total calmness even as I sit here next to the big blank screen of my dead pc and type on this little laptop screen. I'm holding my breath waiting for the third thing, cause when it comes I'm pretty sure my head is going to explode with a great big BOOM..or... As LeeLoo Dallas says in Fifth Element "BIIIIIG BADA BOOM!"
