I remember this date. I remember hearing about the first plane hitting and thinking that was crazy. Then I heard about the second one and went a little numb. My brother-in-law Frank was living in NY at the time I think, and my sister was there a lot. I sat down on my desk at ISG and struggled for about 2 minutes to remember my mom's number. She had just gotten off the phone with my brother, and Karen and Frank were both in New Jersey... not NY... and then I cried. I got out of work early and went to Kaeleigh's school and picked her up in person. We went to a park and played most of the afternoon, just me and her. We talked about what had happened, though in 2nd grade or so it didn't really phase her.
How lucky am I that THAT is my 9/11 memory, and not something so much more terrible?

What's so weird is that your daughter was in 2nd grade. And look at her now. Time goes so fast.
You're dear cousin Jennifer was flying in a plane that morning. I cannot even think about that day without still feeling a pit in my stomach. We're all lucky, as a family, that we came through that day safe and sound. (Even if some of us had to spend the next two days driving home from St. Louis!)
