It's funny, going through my iTunes for songs I love, looking for inspiration for yet another blog post (ps cousin, didn't we burn out on 2 weeks in a row last time we tried it?) and the majority of songs that I love remind me of a select group of people. Jen C? Mostly Sheryl, with some Alanis thrown in there, the Eagles, and of course all of my Buffett. Put on some Duran Duran or a certain Ready for the World song and Jen T is on my mind. 10,000 Maniacs Our Time in Eden reminds me of Karen (the summer she graduated high school). Cranberrries and Depeche Mode, though I don't own any, remind me of Donna. Kenny Chesney of course reminds me of Drew, and for Kaeleigh it's an odd random list of pop songs on the radio... "Apple bottom jeans, boots with the fur".
Listening to Les Miserables I'm guaranteed 2 things, thinking of my mother who first took me to see it, and crying through the songs. It's a good cry, those songs are so packed with emotion it just brings it out. If I'm missing Mere I just put in Steve Miller's Greatest hits and mentally we're back in the kitchen of my parent's house after family dinner. Doing dishes and complaining about how a certain other sister was always too busy to help.
There are also songs that are just me, songs that I put my headphone on and get lost in when I need to work things out in my head. Tell tale signs of that would be Guns and Roses Appetite for Destruction, Van Halen Diver Down. Elton John's Two Rooms, and Carly Simons Reflections are both great for when I just want some relaxing background music on, and Pink is strictly for rocking and singing loudly. It's amazing how music can change your mood, perk you up, or just help you let it all out.
*Blog title from "Drift Away" sung by Dobie Gray (not that Uncle Kracker crap). I have no special ties or memories for this song, but it relaxes me when I hear it. It's a song I always hoped my brother would cover, but alas not yet.

We burned out on three weeks! I cannot believe we did this for three weeks once. We are insane people.
forget the songs. I just love the goofy images you put on here! Love that one today!
that's funny b/c 10,000 maniacs reminds me of karen too from that exact same time...maybe b/c we were just a little obsessed that year.
yes, slightly... remember we couldn't find the car after the concert? ha!
