The Feast of the Seven Fishes (festa dei sette pesci), celebrated on Christmas Eve, is believed to have originated in Southern Italy and is not a known tradition in many parts of Italy. Today, it is a completely Italian-American feast that typically consists of seven different seafood dishes.
This year we had a wonderful Christmas Eve at my sister Christie's house. My brother in law is a fantastic cook and served us up quite a feast. The actual menu escapes me now, but I know I had seven different fish dishes:
- Crab bisque
- Crab dip
- Broiled cod with panko bread crubs
- Scallops
- Steamed muscles
- Garlic shrimp
And....
Sweedish Fish!

what a pretty little girl!
I went to some friend's house one year for the "Festa" thing. But they had the nastiest crap! It was squid-ink pasta, heavy-fried fish, etc. And I LOVE all seafood. Your dinner sounds delicious!
Julia is a adorable and reminds me of you when we were little! I absolutely LOVE the 7th fish on the menu -- so cute!
