IRL

For those who don't know it, IRL is Geek for "In Real Life". It's a term I've seen used mainly in gaming chat, but I'm sure there's many other uses.

I use it for this post because today was the first day in quite a while that I felt like I was living IRL. I had the weekend off with no major plans. Saturday I woke up fighting a migraine, it was my first day off in 18 days and I felt like crap. We went to Lowes and bought a leaf blower, took Kae bowling and then headed home to work on the lawn. It just wasn't happening.

The beginning of the leaf blowing.

Head pouding and feeling sick to my stomach was no way to work on leaves, but we tried. We got the small front yard and a little of the back yard done and then called it a night.

Today was a different story. This morning I woke up without a headache. Drew had gotten up before me and was a busy camper. I looked out the back window and saw he had raked all the leaves into about 8 piles in the back yard. When I got out to the kitchen there was coffee made and he was putting cinnamon buns in the oven (so freaking sweet, I know). We went outside and it took about an hour and a half for us to make the yard look like this:

With the yard done it looked like we had built a wall out front to protect our house:

The rest of the day was sunny and cool with smells of fireplaces and leaves, Home Sweet Home candles burning in the house... THAT'S real life. I got to sit on the couch and watch football for most of the day (gaming most of the time). There was none of the aggrivating shit I've been dealing with at that crazy job over the past 2 months. No whiney, lazy (lying) employees, nobody gossiping or pointing fingers, no messy customers, none of it. That's not real life, just something you have to go through to enjoy life more. It was just a great day. It's been a while since I've had one of those so I thought I'd share.

Hope you have a great day soon too, IRL.

Love!
