The Heat is On

Please meet.... our new grill.

A few months ago our grill died. Well, not so much died as pieces of the grate were falling off and the metal that covers and directs the flame had just disintegrated. There's better ways to get a little iron in your system my friends. We grill year round and I personally felt the loss. We have 2 indoor electric grills (the husband came with 2, not sure why there's more than one), and while they do produce a mostly grilled taste I'm not a fan of the house smelling like whatever I cooked for the next 3 days. So, armed with our paid off Home Depot card we set out Saturday to get ourselves a new outdoor cooker.

Let's have a closer look, shall we? Our new Stok grill has 2 removable plates in the middle that lift off with the supplied handle.

The handle easily snaps on and with the flick of a button releases, but while it's attached it feels as if it's part of whatever it's attached too. The interchangeable plates include the grill plates (obviously) that have both a flat side for burgers and a side with peaks for those nice grill marks in your steaks. It also comes with a griddle plate, a pizza stone, and a grill pan. SO excited about the grill pan. We love to grill shrimp and had baskets before that shrimp would kind of stack in, but it was a pain to load them and the middle shrimp took longer to cook causing the outer ones to cook too long. Not any more kids, now we have this! I hear you can also cook veggies in them, you know, if you eat veggies :)

We broke our grill in right, with a nice steak and some shrimp. Here's what it looked like with all that love on top:
The best part was being able to attach the handle to the shrimp pan and keep them moving so they all cooked evenly. All the inserts stack in little slots under the grill in the cabinet so they stay clean and out of the way when not in use. I look forward to finding ways to use all the attachments.

So, when are you coming over for dinner?
