This, my friends, is the Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker. I received this as one of my shower gifts. It was one of those "oh wouldn't it be cool to have" things that I registered for, along with the Williams Sonoma Ice Cream cookbook. Saturday I broke it out for the first time and let me tell you, I LOVE IT! The recipe I picked from the cookbook was some double chocolate deliciousness that was a little time consuming to make, and then the first custard like concoction had to be chilled for 24 hours before it could even be put in the ice cream maker, then it only took 30 minutes once in there to create a soft serve concoction the likes of which I've never tasted. It tasted like hot chocolate ice cream if that makes any sense.
This is the ice cream:
Oh... and this is the AMAZING pulled pork that I made on Saturday for the very first time. I used the recipe from my ironically titled cookbook "Food Made Fast: Slow Cooker" (thanks to my lovely husband for pointing it out in case you don't know exactly where the pork is). It also came out incredible. Pulled Pork is now available upon request for any "please bring a dish" gathering.
Today Kae and I decided to use up the remaining whole milk and heavy cream in the fridge to make a simple vanilla ice cream. All we had to add was sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla extract, stir, and pour into the ice cream maker. Under 4 minutes of prep time then a half-hour in the ice cream machine. Remember when you were little and Mr. Softee ice cream was like the highlight of the summer? That's exactly what it tastes like. We're already planning to make it next with fresh raspberries. (say it like Nico) mmmMMMmmm.
